Eternal by Cynthia Leitich Smith
This book is one of the Teens Top Ten Nominees and I understand why. It is a fantastic read that includes the dark vampire theme that is so popular, but this book also deals with angels and lightness. The main character, Miranda, is lucky enough to have a guardian angel looking out for her, but one night something goes wrong and she is kidnapped and turned into a vampire. Zachary is her personal guardian angel that falls from grace when he fails to protect her, so in order to redeem himself, Zachary must find Miranda and remove her from the darkness. It is all very dramatic, but good. In fact, this is one of those books that you will speed through because it reads so fast. I would recommend it to teens who enjoy the vampire genre, but also for teens wanting to vote on the Teens Top Ten, which is coming up soon!
Perfect Chemistry

by Simone Elkeles
This book is a modern day Romeo and Juliet. It is narrated by the two main characters, Brittany and Alex. Brittany is the seemingly perfect girl that everyone envies at school, while Alex leads a complete opposite existence as a local gang member. Despite their differences, the two characters lives intersect at school when they become lab partners. At first there is friction, but eventually their relationship develops into something more... A great read, and it is not only my opinion. I have had many teens come in and praise the book as well. Check it out on the library bookshelves!
