There are two events next month that link art and the library. Check them out below...
Inspired by Books: Custom Kicks! This program is being hosted by all of the branch libraries (no official Central date). It is a program about customizing your footwear. It is important to mention that you will not be painting your own shoes. I am not interested in getting anyone in trouble:). Instead, I have a bunch of donated shoes, which you will paint and customize potentially with beads, feathers, and/or pom poms. The teen center at Central does not have a lot of room to display art on the walls, but this is not a problem with the shoes because I will be hanging them from the ceiling. If you are interested in this program, check out the teen calendar or events calendar at the library.

In addition to the Custom Kicks program, there will be a teen art contest hosted by the library in April. Whether you are into drawing, painting, photography, or sculpture, this contest is for you! The theme is "Inspired by Books," which means that I am asking you to tie your creation to a recent or favorite read. The submission deadline is April 17th, and there will be a small show and reception the following week, April 24th at 1pm, to announce the winner. The grand prize winner will receive a 50 dollar gift certificate to Michaels, which will buy you more art supplies. Other winners will receive art related books. Remember, by participating in the Custom Kicks program you are eligible for the art contest (Custom Kicks is actually a book, so you can use that as your "inspiration").
Entry forms are located in the teen center. Submit your art to Shanna Smith, Teen Librarian, in the Youth Department at the Central Branch. Please call 970-683-2411 with questions.
